In the 29th minute, Eloy Herbruger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Gil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sergio Mendieta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Eloy Orozco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesar Cedeño having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiliam Zapata in the 39th minute of play forced El Real De Santa María's goalkeeper Cesar Cedeño to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Celmira F.C. booed when El Real De Santa María was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Castillero didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Wiliam Zapata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cesar Cedeño breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cesar Cedeño made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Sebastián Henriguez sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Celmira F.C. getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Eloy Centella hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juan Pinilla in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sergio Mendieta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 81 minutes into the match, El Real De Santa María's goal looked a bit too open when Eloy Orozco came free, but Cesar Cedeño reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sergio Mendieta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julio Gil, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 85 minutes into the game, El Real De Santa María's Nicolás Chavez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wiliam Zapata got free with Cesar Cedeño in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew the final whistle, El Real De Santa María could leave the field as winners, despite Celmira F.C. having more of the ball for most of the match.
