After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Walter Cofresi managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee ignored Estrella's protests and gave Osorio Maeda a yellow card for diving instead. Osorio Maeda kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Walter Cofresi didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-0 via right post in the game's 22nd minute. UD Esmeralda's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Mina Veraza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rosero Eradi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to UD Esmeralda getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Alvaro Frade hit a great ball. If Zarando Medrano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rosero Eradi made a kick off. Walter Cofresi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mina Veraza having to interfere.
