Sacapiamba's Pinto Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norberto Barreras in the 3rd minute of play. If Luzuriaga Busquet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Esteban got free with Zeruko Mendia in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zeruko Mendia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Esteban, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Sacapiamba's goal looked a bit too open when Xaven Castells came free, but Pinto Arruda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Esteban got free with Zeruko Mendia in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 23rd minute Luzuriaga Busquet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeruko Mendia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, UD Ambatillo's goal looked a bit too open when Luzuriaga Busquet came free, but Zeruko Mendia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute, Edison Percaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute, UD Ambatillo's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Alberto Esteban fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A collision led to UD Ambatillo getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Edison Percaz hit a great ball. Alberto Esteban's late challenge caught a UD Ambatillo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alberto Esteban helped the player get up and apologised. Alberto Esteban kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Alberto Esteban struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Zeruko Mendia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sacapiamba. In the 41st minute, UD Ambatillo's Demetrio Araico seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Demetrio Araico the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of UD Ambatillo protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Demetrio Araico had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luzuriaga Busquet was the one to do the kick off. Luzuriaga Busquet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeruko Mendia having to interfere. Zeruko Mendia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Esteban in the 55th minute of play. A collision led to UD Ambatillo getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Edison Percaz hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Alberto Esteban's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zeruko Mendia was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Urbes Carnicero kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Xaven Castells succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 60th playminute. Urbes Carnicero charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Urbes Carnicero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of UD Ambatillo booed when Sacapiamba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Urbes Carnicero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rdth minute of the game Alberto Esteban who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UD Ambatillo's Zeruko Mendia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 76th match minute, Sacapiamba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Seiro to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luzuriaga Busquet in the 84th minute of play forced UD Ambatillo's goalkeeper Zeruko Mendia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Xaven Castells sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the game, Alberto Esteban cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Zeruko Mendia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 94 minutes into the game, Duarte Farell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sacapiamba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UD Ambatillo the free kick. In the 94th minute, Duarte Farell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
