The audience thought a goal was coming when Washington Ruedas got free with Leoverliz Gadañon in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan-Carlos Sotelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zunbeltz Colomines, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. If Washington Ruedas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Suquinda's goal looked a bit too open when Zunbeltz Colomines came free, but Juan-Carlos Sotelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Platopamba FC's Zunbeltz Colomines in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A collision led to Suquinda getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Roger Mendaza hit a great ball. In the 40thth minute of the game Graziani Cantiello who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Suquinda's Juan-Carlos Sotelo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Graziani Cantiello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juan-Carlos Sotelo. Suquinda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Graziani Cantiello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 46 played minutes Platopamba FC got a freekick which was hit by George Casasola. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isaias Salantes to make the kick off. Leoverliz Gadañon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Ruedas in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Reyes Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 55 played minutes Platopamba FC got a freekick which was hit by Reyes Brito. If Isaias Salantes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Suquinda's defense didn't have a chance, in the 64th minute, when Reyes Brito scored to the left of an out of position Juan-Carlos Sotelo, making the score, 1-2. Platopamba FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Graziani Cantiello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Suquinda's zone, Zunbeltz Colomines stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan-Carlos Sotelo came out of the goal and Zunbeltz Colomines tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Graziani Cantiello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
