Xandro Gallinar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to CD Onashapa getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Polo Macilla hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Espinoza Melendes in the 8th minute of play forced Canas's goalkeeper Michael Corono to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonel Berastegui took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Cabañas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Espinoza Melendes in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Michael Corono prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Xandro Gallinar got in the 13th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Michael Corono handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When Urbes Madinabeitia fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canas's protests and gave Urbes Madinabeitia a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 played minutes Canas got a freekick which was hit by Urbes Madinabeitia. If Xandro Gallinar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xandro Gallinar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Corono having to make a save. 24 minutes into the match, Canas's goal looked a bit too open when Xandro Gallinar came free, but Michael Corono reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the game, Espinoza Melendes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Michael Corono was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leonel Berastegui made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Jose-Antonio Recio sent off a good shot on target. CD Onashapa's Leonel Berastegui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Cabañas in the 37th minute of play. When Jose-Antonio Recio came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Canas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jose-Antonio Recio couldn't finish the play. Leonel Berastegui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Cabañas, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. John Cabañas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Berastegui having to interfere.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. John Cabañas was the one to do the kick off. Michael Corono showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xandro Gallinar, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. John Cabañas struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Leonel Berastegui didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canas. After a defensive mix-up in Canas's zone, Espinoza Melendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Corono came out of the goal and Espinoza Melendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Canas's Michael Corono played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xandro Gallinar in the 62nd minute of play. Jose-Antonio Recio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Berastegui having to interfere. After 72 minutes of play Canas's Urbes Madinabeitia was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 71st minute, one of Canas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canas. The referee gave CD Onashapa a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Samaniego Doblas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Canas's Michael Corono. 0-2. After 79 played minutes CD Onashapa got a freekick which was hit by Samaniego Doblas. The crowd rose to their feet as Xandro Gallinar kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Michael Corono. That made the score 0-3 in the 83 minute of play. Pedro Gallardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leonel Berastegui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose-Antonio Recio in the 96th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. CD Onashapa walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
