The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the match, CD Remolino's goal looked a bit too open when Asencio Montaña came free, but Victorino Mallen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute, Asencio Montaña made a precise shot to the right of Victorino Mallen. CD Remolino's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Asencio Montaña in the 17th minute of play forced CD Remolino's goalkeeper Victorino Mallen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Joyapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urtsua Zermeño to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Asencio Montaña managed to get in a good position for a shot. Joyapa's supporters rose to their feet, but Asencio Montaña was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victorino Mallen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Johnny Garnica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorino Mallen having to interfere. Evelio Rebustillo came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by CD Remolino's Bruno Lacalle. But to his dismay, Bruno Lacalle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Graziani Merayo kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Bruno Lacalle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bruno Lacalle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Johnny Garnica managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Joyapa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johnny Garnica was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Adolfo Vascones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adolfo Vascones was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in CD Remolino's zone, Johnny Garnica stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victorino Mallen came out of the goal and Johnny Garnica tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vellito Quesada kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. The supporters of Joyapa booed when CD Remolino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vellito Quesada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Asencio Montaña struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Victorino Mallen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Joyapa. Zernin Lumbreras charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zernin Lumbreras the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 73rd minute of the match Romeo Bustamante sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Evelio Rebustillo skillfully saved the ball. Bruno Lacalle kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Jimmy Posadas was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 83 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in CD Remolino fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! CD Remolino:s Victorino Mallen showed great skill when he stopped Luis Telena:s penalty. Luis Telena took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Victorino Mallen. Victorino Mallen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Graziani Merayo during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Graziani Merayo kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 96th match minute, Joyapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Prior to maneuver through the defense. The Joyapa supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Joyapa would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
