Borja Hurtado charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Borja Hurtado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 9 minutes into the match, Julia's goal looked a bit too open when Ovando Castrejana came free, but Santos Berrahondo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ovando Castrejana came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the UD Yaguachi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ovando Castrejana couldn't finish the play. In the 16th play minute Arlín Gegundez came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Fernández Astola. 2-0. Xorxe Malsepica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Xorxe Malsepica came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the UD Yaguachi fans jumped to their feet. Fernández Astola was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 38thth minute of the game Xorxe Malsepica who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Julia's Santos Berrahondo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ovando Castrejana in the 39th minute of play forced Julia's goalkeeper Santos Berrahondo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabio Magdalena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kléber Zapico's late challenge caught a Julia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kléber Zapico helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Julia booed when UD Yaguachi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Zapico didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arlín Gegundez to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Arlín Gegundez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Fernández Astola was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fabio Magdalena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernández Astola having to interfere. Fernández Astola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabio Magdalena, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Julia's supporters rose to their feet, but Arlín Gegundez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernández Astola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Julia fans cheered their team off the field, for while UD Yaguachi had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
