Jimbiquito SC were furious when Ortíz Espoa was red carded, 9 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Jimbiquito SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of UD Pongal:s goal. John Verganza's late challenge caught a UD Pongal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. John Verganza helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Jimbiquito SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John Verganza to maneuver through the defense. Suárez Jimenez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Tello, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After having played for 27 minutes, Inocencio Ugarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jimbiquito SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inocencio Ugarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vincente Lujo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Roque Mexia skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Inocencio Ugarte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jimbiquito SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Inocencio Ugarte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roque Mexia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to UD Pongal getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Mauricio Sarabia hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dario Tello stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pico Chirivoga during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Jimbiquito SC's Tenorio Andonegui tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 87 minutes, Edgar Cabanela mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jimbiquito SC and the UD Pongal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jimbiquito SC's Suárez Jimenez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Jimbiquito SC from getting a goal against them. When Díaz Villarinos came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the UD Pongal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Díaz Villarinos couldn't finish the play. Suárez Jimenez made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Díaz Villarinos sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched UD Pongal eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
