Damian Llorengoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vilson Lavijo, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 18th minute, Paiva Echavarri sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and CD Galapagos's Damian Llorengoz didn't even have to move. 19 minutes into the game, Paredes Ubera cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Damian Llorengoz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leonel Cantillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damian Llorengoz having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Paredes Ubera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Milagro SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paredes Ubera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diego Padin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eugenio Landeta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paredes Ubera made a kick off. A collision led to CD Galapagos getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 55th minute, León Ruales ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. The supporters of CD Galapagos booed when Milagro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitor Peñacastillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Milagro SC's Paredes Ubera got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. León Ruales recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eugenio Landeta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Padin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diego Padin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Eugenio Landeta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Milagro SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
