The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Bayan booed when UD Chaquir was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reynaldo Amenedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute José-Francisco Olazagoitia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Coleira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ugutz Zahonero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Bayan's zone, Sergio Deleon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iván Rugama came out of the goal and Sergio Deleon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

UD Chaquir's defense didn't have a chance, in the 52nd minute, when Ugutz Zahonero scored to the left of an out of position Marco Coleira, making the score, 0-2. Jorge Viladrosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Iván Rugama tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jorge Viladrosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iván Rugama showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Viladrosa in the 66th minute of the match. Bayan's Iván Rugama played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Deleon in the 77th minute of play. After 81 minutes, Velasco Mojon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the UD Chaquir and the Bayan players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sergio Deleon's late challenge caught a Bayan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sergio Deleon helped the player get up and apologised. Sergio Deleon hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Marco Coleira made an important save on a dangerous shot by José-Francisco Olazagoitia in the 84th minute. Bayan's Iván Rugama played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Deleon in the 87th minute of play. The Bayan supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bayan would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
