The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Mauricio Villaseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cumbaya FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauricio Villaseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 5th minute, Zeru Orcajo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Jesus Legorburu managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Cumbaya FC's Iza Lacueva fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 13 minutes into the match, Tullapamba's goalkeeper Jesus Legorburu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gonzalo Plata. Iza Lacueva's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 17thth minute, Jesus Legorburu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 19 minutes into the game, Candelario Abuleta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tullapamba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cumbaya FC the free kick. The supporters of Cumbaya FC booed when Tullapamba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Candelario Abuleta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 19 played minutes, Cumbaya FC's Jose-Antonio Sandin shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jesus Legorburu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cumbaya FC reached it. After a rather tough play, Tullapamba's Marcelino Vello got a free kick in the 20th minute. Mauricio Villaseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gonzalo Plata in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jesus Legorburu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Venerando Sirguero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Espinola Quintanadueñas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venerando Sirguero in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute Marcelino Vello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Espinola Quintanadueñas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Tullapamba defense, Jose-Antonio Sandin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jesus Legorburu. The Tullapamba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jesus Legorburu should have stopped the shot. Jose-Antonio Sandin came free with the goalkeeper in the 43rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jesus Legorburu could save by the left post. When Iza Lacueva came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Cumbaya FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iza Lacueva couldn't finish the play. Venerando Sirguero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Espinola Quintanadueñas having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gonzalo Plata was the one to do the kick off. Cumbaya FC's Espinola Quintanadueñas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Cumbaya FC from getting a goal against them. Espinola Quintanadueñas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Venerando Sirguero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Cumbaya FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Aires Querejeta hit a great ball. Espinola Quintanadueñas made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Marcelino Vello sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th match minute, Tullapamba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeru Orcajo to maneuver through the defense. If Mauricio Villaseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonzalo Plata in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jesus Legorburu saved Tullapamba from getting behind. After having played for 69 minutes, Mauricio Villaseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cumbaya FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauricio Villaseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a left leg Jesus Legorburu saved Tullapamba from getting behind. 75 minutes into the match, Cumbaya FC's Gonzalo Plata sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jesus Legorburu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Espinola Quintanadueñas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venerando Sirguero in the 77th minute of play. Espinola Quintanadueñas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcelino Vello in the 80th minute. The supporters of Tullapamba booed when Cumbaya FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iza Lacueva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelino Vello blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Espinola Quintanadueñas having to make a save. In the 87th minute, Marcelino Vello ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Espinola Quintanadueñas was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 93rd minute, Mauricio Villaseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Weather Alva hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Gonzalo Plata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Iza Lacueva might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jesus Legorburu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Iza Lacueva ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Tullapamba eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
