With an all-out effort, Patria S.C's Zernin Campo threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ysidro Guizabal, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tomas Barahona struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Xavon Zaldos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dynamo FC Guayaquil. Osvaldo Banzola's late challenge caught a Dynamo FC Guayaquil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Osvaldo Banzola helped the player get up and apologised. Osvaldo Banzola hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Chiriboga Artaza took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Xavon Zaldos. Xavon Zaldos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Xayvion Fortuño hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Ysidro Guizabal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zernin Campo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Ysidro Guizabal notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Dynamo FC Guayaquil's Zernin Campo. Zernin Campo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 38 minutes into the match, Dynamo FC Guayaquil's goalkeeper Zernin Campo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Villarreal Failde. Ysidro Guizabal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 48th minute, Tomas Barahona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ysidro Guizabal to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Ysidro Guizabal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zernin Campo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patria S.C's Xavon Zaldos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Patria S.C from getting a goal against them. Dynamo FC Guayaquil's Zernin Campo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Buenahora in the 58th minute of play. Villarreal Failde hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, Patria S.C's Ysidro Guizabal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zernin Campo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Humberto Buenahora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 88 minutes into the match, Humberto Buenahora had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zernin Campo. Dynamo FC Guayaquil's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Humberto Buenahora was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Barahona in the 94th minute of play forced Patria S.C's goalkeeper Xavon Zaldos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Villarreal Viñambre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Xavon Zaldos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Patria S.C fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dynamo FC Guayaquil had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
