Xuoco Mazo was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Edgar Hierro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rocafuerte's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Hierro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roque Murrillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Balza struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Roque Murrillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rocafuerte. Trivniño Mesa charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Trivniño Mesa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorge Balza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind CD Seurcel's goalkeeper Roque Murrillo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Baldeón Troconiz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xuoco Mazo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play.
