The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marco Capetillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zayveon Almazan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Patria S.C.'s Julio Villavedon got a free kick in the 29th minute. If German Lloreda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. German Lloreda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Marco Capetillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. UD Saraguro's Zayveon Almazan got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Patria S.C.'s goalkeeper Marco Capetillo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zayveon Almazan in the 45th minute of play forced Patria S.C.'s goalkeeper Marco Capetillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Zayveon Almazan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marco Capetillo was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half UD Saraguro were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Xove Cerdeira sped through UD Saraguro's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vito Piedra.
