The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute of the match, Rodriguez Robina tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Esterilla Raimundo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, CD Naranjada's Estacio Villacis got a free kick in the 7th minute. After having played for 10 minutes, Emiliano Arambula managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Chayo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emiliano Arambula was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee gave CD Naranjada a penalty, 13 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by López Corral, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of UD Chayo's Martin Lejarazu. 0-1. When Baldeón Bonal fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UD Chayo's protests and gave Baldeón Bonal a yellow card for diving instead. Baldeón Bonal hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Elkin Albaratay sped through UD Chayo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Martin Lejarazu. After 26 minutes, Pascual Ramila mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CD Naranjada and the UD Chayo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th minute, one of CD Naranjada:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CD Naranjada. Grueso Mendecute kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Elkin Albaratay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Lejarazu having to interfere. If Elkin Albaratay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, UD Chayo's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Fuica came free, but Martin Lejarazu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodriguez Robina in the 58th minute of play forced CD Naranjada's goalkeeper Esterilla Raimundo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Emiliano Arambula came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the UD Chayo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emiliano Arambula couldn't finish the play. After having played for 62 minutes, Emiliano Arambula managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Chayo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emiliano Arambula was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of CD Naranjada booed when UD Chayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vistruario Marichalar didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of UD Chayo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CD Naranjada:s goal. In the 76th minute, the referee gave CD Naranjada a penalty. López Corral looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Martin Lejarazu. 81 minutes into the match, UD Chayo's goalkeeper Martin Lejarazu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elkin Albaratay. Martin Lejarazu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Fuica, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Elkin Albaratay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Lejarazu having to interfere. Rafael Fuica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Martin Lejarazu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over CD Naranjada could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than UD Chayo throughout the match.
