If Francisco Laures had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Deportivo Gran Chaco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Laures was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Deportivo Gran Chaco's Benjamin Victorica sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gerardo Medrano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Deportivo Gran Chaco walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
