Stacio Orue was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 15 played minutes José-Manuel Pando rounded Mullquindil FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. In the 18th minute, one of Mullquindil FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mullquindil FC. Danny Peñarroja hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Gerardo Salinas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Stacio Orue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Vera Olavarrieta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stacio Orue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when James Doral got free with Reyes Olmedo in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gerardo Salinas made a kick off. James Doral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Reyes Olmedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reyes Olmedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José-Manuel Pando, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 57 minutes into the game, Ataulfo Logares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mullquindil FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Otavalo S.C. the free kick. The supporters of Otavalo S.C. booed when Mullquindil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ataulfo Logares didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Salinas in the 61st minute of play forced Otavalo S.C.'s goalkeeper Stacio Orue to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Otavalo S.C.'s goalkeeper Stacio Orue had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vera Olavarrieta. After having played for 66 minutes, José-Manuel Pando managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Otavalo S.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but José-Manuel Pando was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Vera Olavarrieta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ataulfo Logares in the 75th minute of play forced Otavalo S.C.'s goalkeeper Stacio Orue to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 76 minutes of play Mullquindil FC's Ataulfo Logares was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Otavalo S.C. booed when Mullquindil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ataulfo Logares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Otavalo S.C.'s James Doral managed to work through Mullquindil FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. James Doral dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vera Olavarrieta got free with Stacio Orue in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Mullquindil FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Vera Olavarrieta hit a great ball. Otavalo S.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
