The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 played minutes Sapan SC got a freekick which was hit by Fernández Salantes. In the 9th minute of the match Alfonso Zayas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xarles Haces skillfully saved the ball. Zosimo Chagavia kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. In the 16th minute, Plinio Sporting Club's Alberto Negron seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Alberto Negron the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Plinio Sporting Club protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Alberto Negron had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Plinio Sporting Club:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sapan SC:s goal. José Baltanas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cotera Fuentes in the 26th minute of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Diego Vuelva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Plinio Sporting Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Vuelva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sapan SC's Xarles Haces proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Sapan SC from getting a goal against them. Ulises Bullan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Baltanas having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Plinio Sporting Club's Alonso Talaga got a free kick in the 35th minute. Plinio Sporting Club's José Baltanas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulises Bullan in the 37th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Ulises Bullan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sapan SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulises Bullan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Baltanas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ulises Bullan to make the kick off. García Torralba struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Xarles Haces didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Plinio Sporting Club. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Ayoví Orruma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sapan SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ayoví Orruma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Baltanas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Plinio Sporting Club booed when Sapan SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan-Pablo Verastegui didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernández Salantes during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When García Torralba fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Plinio Sporting Club's protests and gave García Torralba a yellow card for diving instead. In the 74th match minute, Plinio Sporting Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by García Torralba to maneuver through the defense. Diego Vuelva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Baltanas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulises Bullan, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Ulises Bullan struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. José Baltanas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sapan SC. The Sapan SC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
