Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Consumulu FC's Gomez Soba started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ubaldo Larrañaga in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lavallén Herrea saved Chongon from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Ricardo Querijazu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Consumulu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Querijazu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lavallén Herrea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Chongon's zone, Ubaldo Larrañaga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lavallén Herrea came out of the goal and Ubaldo Larrañaga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 26 minutes into the match, Consumulu FC's goalkeeper Abel Espinosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yépez Goycoa. After 29 played minutes Chongon got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Motel. Lavallén Herrea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gomez Soba in the 32nd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fabian Besga during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 34th minute of the game. One of Chongon:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Consumulu FC:s goal. The referee gave Consumulu FC a penalty, 37 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Urre Aledo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Chongon's Lavallén Herrea. 0-1. 41 minutes into the match, Chongon's goal looked a bit too open when Ubaldo Larrañaga came free, but Lavallén Herrea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yépez Goycoa struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Abel Espinosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chongon. The Chongon players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Consumulu FC were winning 0-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Polo Caban to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Ubaldo Larrañaga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lavallén Herrea. Chongon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ubaldo Larrañaga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Manuel Motel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chongon's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Motel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abel Espinosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ubaldo Larrañaga came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Consumulu FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ubaldo Larrañaga couldn't finish the play. In the 65th minute Yépez Goycoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Espinosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Polo Caban in the 69th minute of play forced Consumulu FC's goalkeeper Abel Espinosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agustin Santillana hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Consumulu FC's Ubaldo Larrañaga got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manuel Motel hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Chongon's Lavallén Herrea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urre Aledo in the 76th minute of play. Ubaldo Larrañaga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lavallén Herrea having to interfere.
