Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) When Vidal Quetara fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CS Emelec's protests and gave Vidal Quetara a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in CS Emelec fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 4th minute. Penalty! CS Emelec:s Xarles Sotelo showed great skill when he stopped Zeruko Collante:s penalty. Ugaitz Rilo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roberto Artes's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Cumbaya FC's goal looked a bit too open when Roberto Artes came free, but Ugaitz Rilo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roberto Artes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ugaitz Rilo having to interfere. Ugaitz Rilo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Artes in the 20th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martin Robleda in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Xarles Sotelo saved CS Emelec from getting behind. Gonzalo Ferrer was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 28th minute. Cumbaya FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Virgilio Andibidria during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 29 played minutes Cumbaya FC got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Andibidria. CS Emelec's Xarles Sotelo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save CS Emelec from getting a goal against them. Ugaitz Rilo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Espinoza Capell in the 47th minute of the match. Virgilio Andibidria was shown his second yellow card after 47 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 50th minute Neicer Berrio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ugaitz Rilo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gonzalo Ferrer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 58th minute by Roberto Artes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Gonzalo Ferrer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cumbaya FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonzalo Ferrer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xarles Sotelo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gonzalo Ferrer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Xarles Sotelo having to make a save. Espinoza Capell kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. After 71 minutes, Ovando Ariztimuño mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CS Emelec and the Cumbaya FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd minute of the match José Artigue shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xarles Sotelo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Gonzalo Ferrer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute Neicer Berrio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ugaitz Rilo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ugaitz Rilo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neicer Berrio, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Roberto Artess short, quick shot in the 98thth minute got Ugaitz Rilo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. CS Emelec's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
