When Uhin Candina came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Pila fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Uhin Candina couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Uhin Candina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pila's supporters rose to their feet, but Uhin Candina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ponce Landaluce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ponce Landaluce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torres Tocos, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 33rd match minute, Pila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Simon to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the match, Inter De Guayaquil ll's Christobal Llorden broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Vilson Ibaizabal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulises Macua read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. After 39 minutes, Bagui Voces mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter De Guayaquil ll and the Pila players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd minute of the match Christobal Llorden sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulises Macua skillfully saved the ball. Vilson Sojo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Ulises Macua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Torres Tocos was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Uriel Leyva during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Pila's Uriel Leyva got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Roque Murias hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute of the match, Uhin Candina got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ponce Landaluce was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pila's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Vilson Sojo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute, Uhin Candina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ulises Macua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vilson Ibaizabal in the 94th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Pila's Torres Tocos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Inter De Guayaquil ll's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
