Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Renán Parte in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Arostegui prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddy Queduro in the 8th minute of play forced Ballet Azul's goalkeeper Ricardo Arostegui to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Arostegui didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Freddy Queduro went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Xzavaier Marin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramírez Canido in the 16th minute. Ramírez Canido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Xzavaier Marin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, C.S. EMELEC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Texeira Puntones to maneuver through the defense. Ugutz Obispo charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ugutz Obispo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ballet Azul's Nando Gamiz couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for C.S. EMELEC. Ballet Azul's Ricardo Arostegui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Freddy Queduro in the 23rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Renán Parte's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Arostegui was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. In the 27th minute, C.S. EMELEC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Domingo Montel fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Renán Parte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 61st minute Ramírez Canido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xzavaier Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of C.S. EMELEC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ballet Azul:s goal. If Domingo Montel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renán Parte was extremely unlucky when he, in the 73rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Renán Parte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 78 minutes into the match, Ballet Azul's goal looked a bit too open when Freddy Queduro came free, but Ricardo Arostegui reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardo Arostegui made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddy Queduro in the 81st minute of play. The supporters of C.S. EMELEC's supporters rose to their feet, but Freddy Queduro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Arostegui breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With splendid footwork Freddy Queduro arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-2 by the left pole in the game's 96th minute.
