Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Oswaldo Abendaño kicked off to start the match. After 9 played minutes DT Quito got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Ocon. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Teobald Podolski in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Coyette Rescuro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jaime Ocon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in DT Quito fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 16th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Coyette Rescuro, was totally fooled by UD Espinel's Teobald Podolski, who 17 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. UD Espinel's José-Luis Sobre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Ocon in the 22nd minute of play. When Teobald Podolski came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the UD Espinel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teobald Podolski couldn't finish the play. José-Luis Sobre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Abendaño in the 26th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Oswaldo Abendaño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José-Luis Sobre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when Teobald Podolski made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of UD Espinel booed when DT Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romo Gambo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teobald Podolski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Coyette Rescuro having to make a save. José-Luis Sobre made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zornin Aspurua in the 62nd minute. Urbasa Yañez struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Coyette Rescuro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UD Espinel. Urbasa Yañez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Coyette Rescuro having to interfere. If Urbasa Yañez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A sloppy throw-in by Ramirez Feyto in the 77th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by UD Espinel's Guagua Mirueña. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Ocon got free with José-Luis Sobre in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 80 minutes, Teobald Podolski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Espinel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teobald Podolski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Urbasa Yañez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 87 played minutes UD Espinel got a freekick which was hit by Joachim Söderström. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Ocon got free with José-Luis Sobre in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ramirez Feyto's late challenge caught a UD Espinel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ramirez Feyto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of UD Espinel booed when DT Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramirez Feyto didn't get a good kick on the ball.
