Teobald Podolski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cortez Cabañero having to interfere. A collision led to UD Espinel getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Guagua Mirueña hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, Joachim Söderström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José-Luis Sobre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeledon Casaponsa, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A collision led to Oilchem getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Umbruso Morodo hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Teobald Podolski in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cortez Cabañero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 27 minutes, Teobald Podolski made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Oilchem's Cortez Cabañero tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Oilchem getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Bolívar Ordoña hit a great ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Guagua Mirueña managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Espinel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guagua Mirueña was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teobald Podolski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Flavio Galanes kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After having played for 56 minutes, Teobald Podolski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Espinel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teobald Podolski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Urbasa Yañez came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the UD Espinel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urbasa Yañez couldn't finish the play. UD Espinel's José-Luis Sobre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Umbruso Morodo in the 63rd minute of play. Teobald Podolski might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cortez Cabañero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teobald Podolski ran back to his position shaking his head. Urbasa Yañez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Umbruso Morodo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. José-Luis Sobre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guagua Mirueña recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 73rd minute, Teobald Podolski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cortez Cabañero was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 77thth minute of the game Teobald Podolski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oilchem's Cortez Cabañero was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Umbruso Morodo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José-Luis Sobre was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Urbasa Yañez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Cortez Cabañero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, UD Espinel's Flavio Galanes got a free kick in the 85th minute. Diaz Gimenez scored 2-2 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José-Luis Sobre, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Teobald Podolski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cortez Cabañero. That made the score 2-3 in the 89 minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Oilchem's goal looked a bit too open when Teobald Podolski came free, but Cortez Cabañero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over UD Espinel could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Oilchem throughout the match.
