After a rather tough play, UD Guayquichuma's Saritama Guiza got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute Danilo Valer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but González Gavito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Danilo Valer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villarreal CF's supporters rose to their feet, but Danilo Valer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. González Gavito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Danilo Valer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. González Gavito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Humberto Urioste succeeded in the game's 16th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Henry Tijerina came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and González Gavito could save by the left post. If Humberto Urioste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Texeira Urquiaga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgar Rubio hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Villarreal CF's Rodrigo Esteve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salvador Olloque in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Humberto Urioste was the one to do the kick off. Texeira Urquiaga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. González Gavito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Tijerina in the 54th minute of the match. Villarreal CF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UD Guayquichuma the free kick. Texeira Urquiaga kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Humberto Urioste fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Esteve having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Salvador Olloque fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Humberto Urioste managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee showed Xuoco Agudo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 96 minutes into the game, one of Villarreal CF:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 98th minute there was a penalty for UD Guayquichuma. Leandro Hoa stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rodrigo Esteve. 1-3. UD Guayquichuma's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
