Xencio Payva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bolívar Agudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A collision led to Ciruelas getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Alfonso Orejo hit a great ball. A hard and well directed shot from Pancho Henestrosa led 17 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Ciruelas's Martin Nieto became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-0. Ramos Astera who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Martin Nieto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Xencio Payva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bolívar Agudo in the 25th minute of play. After 26 played minutes Real Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Vilson Narria. After having played for 29 minutes, Bolívar Agudo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ciruelas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bolívar Agudo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joel Graña recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 38 played minutes Real Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Vilson Narria. Pablo Sodupe's late challenge caught a Ciruelas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pablo Sodupe helped the player get up and apologised. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pablo Sodupe to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pablo Sodupe in the 59th minute of play forced Ciruelas's goalkeeper Martin Nieto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute Cristian Vital shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Nieto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pablo Sodupe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Martin Nieto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Vital in the 71st minute of play forced Ciruelas's goalkeeper Martin Nieto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xepe Villafañe during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Real Madrid's Xepe Villafañe got a free kick in the 73rd minute. If Bolívar Agudo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ciruelas booed when Real Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pancho Henestrosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martin Nieto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vilson Narria's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Ramos Astera charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramos Astera the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Real Madrid getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ramos Astera hit a great ball. Ciruelas's Bolívar Agudo got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Real Madrid had won after a very even match.
