In the 5th minute, Mendez Viz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xepe Aranguiz during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Independiente del Valle getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Xepe Aranguiz hit a great ball. In the 13th minute, Luis Urreta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 16 played minutes Independiente del Valle got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alfonso. 19 minutes into the game, Casado Roales was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cuenca FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente del Valle the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cuenca FC's Casado Roales got a free kick in the 19th minute. Fernando Ledrado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillermo Lasquibar having to interfere. In the 30th minute Checa Viladrosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guillermo Lasquibar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Méndez Garin was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Mendez Viz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mendez Viz really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. In the 41st minute, Independiente del Valle's Mendez Viz fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Méndez Garin was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. In the 46th minute Felix Pelaci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Méndez Garin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernando Ledrado to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Ledrado in the 52nd minute of play forced Independiente del Valle's goalkeeper Guillermo Lasquibar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd match minute, Independiente del Valle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Prats to maneuver through the defense. Checa Viladrosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Guillermo Lasquibar made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Mendez Viz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente del Valle's supporters rose to their feet, but Mendez Viz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Méndez Garin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristobal Perramon succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 62nd playminute. Méndez Garin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mendez Viz in the 74th minute of the match. Ricart Mor hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Ricart Mor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Méndez Garin having to interfere. Ricart Mor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Méndez Garin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Méndez Garin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mendez Viz, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cuenca FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Independiente del Valle.
