The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Lorenzo Rojica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christobal Lojo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lorenzo Rojica in the 9th minute of the match. Lorenzo Rojica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lorenzo Rojica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Christobal Lojo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lorenzo Rojica's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christobal Lojo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. If Juan Alcolea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th match minute, CD Tumpain was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xofre Ibarguen to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to CD Tumpain getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Tenorio Espriu hit a great ball. San Fransisco de Quito's Edson Ciaño couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for CD Tumpain. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Juan Alcolea sped through San Fransisco de Quito's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Freddy Cañas. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lorenzo Rojica to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zelipe Jaraba in the 57th minute of play forced CD Tumpain's goalkeeper Christobal Lojo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddy Cañas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pablo Vialpando, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Zelipe Jaraba hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Xizavier Jordana took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Freddy Cañas. San Fransisco de Quito's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Pablo Vialpando had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th match minute, San Fransisco de Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacobo Ascargorta to maneuver through the defense. When Jacobo Ascargorta fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Fransisco de Quito's protests and gave Jacobo Ascargorta a yellow card for diving instead. Jacobo Ascargorta hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 70th minute, Pablo Vialpando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Juan Alcolea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Freddy Cañas made a huge save. Juan Alcolea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of CD Tumpain booed when San Fransisco de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Ascargorta didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Freddy Cañas managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when CD Tumpain's Juan Alcolea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Aurelio Fontanez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tenorio Espriu's late challenge caught a San Fransisco de Quito's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tenorio Espriu helped the player get up and apologised. San Fransisco de Quito's Lorenzo Rojica got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Juan Alcolea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Cañas having to interfere. The CD Tumpain players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
