After a defensive mix-up in Esmeraldas FC's zone, Ascencio Cerbera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emiliano Busta came out of the goal and Ascencio Cerbera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th match minute, Esmeraldas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Urruela to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute of the match Gonzales Guim sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emiliano Busta skillfully saved the ball. In the 24th minute, Esmeraldas FC's Juan-Alfredo Vardeci ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gomez Casanoves. Gomez Casanoves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. With his leg Gomez Casanoves managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Esmeraldas FC's Juan-Alfredo Vardeci fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Bruno Urruela fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esmeraldas FC's protests and gave Bruno Urruela a yellow card for diving instead. Bruno Urruela kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Esmeraldas FC's Ascencio Gegundez got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Augusto Justo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ascencio Gegundez to strike the kick off in the second half. Ascencio Gegundez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gomez Casanoves having to interfere. It was Gonzales Guim who took care of the corner kick. 62 minutes into the game, Marsella SC's Ascencio Cerbera nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emiliano Busta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 66th minute, Juan-Alfredo Vardeci got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 69 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Esmeraldas FC! Augusto Justo scored 2-3 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emiliano Busta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Augusto Justo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Esmeraldas FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Fernando Fururia hit a great ball. Augusto Justo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 85thth minute tested the skills of Emiliano Busta when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Marsella SC's Gomez Casanoves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan-Alfredo Vardeci in the 90th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Juan-Alfredo Vardeci cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Gomez Casanoves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Justo got free with Emiliano Busta in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 95 minutes into the match, Marsella SC's Augusto Justo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emiliano Busta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Augusto Justo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Emiliano Busta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
