The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 19th minute Vergaray Cuervo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramón Pareja saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 minutes, Tyrone Arneu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CD Mamey and the Bijagual players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes CD Mamey got a freekick which was hit by Tyrone Arneu. Patricio Broz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Morales Arciniega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 39 played minutes CD Mamey got a freekick which was hit by Joaquin Nobal. In the 42nd minute of the match Yiyo Peso shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patricio Broz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Marquez Pidrola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Patricio Broz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Morales Arciniega to make the kick off. When Roman Poblaciones came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the CD Mamey fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roman Poblaciones couldn't finish the play. Patricio Broz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Ferreros in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, CD Mamey's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Ferreros came free, but Patricio Broz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
