After 4 minutes, Teofilo Novajas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cerecita and the Gualaquiza SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Teofilo Novajas kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. When Ovando Andibidria came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Gualaquiza SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ovando Andibidria couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gualaquiza SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 7th minute. Penalty! If Teofilo Novajas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Gualaquiza SC's goal looked a bit too open when Valery Colon came free, but Fernandez Laguardia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fernandez Laguardia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valery Colon in the 25th minute of play. Fernandez Laguardia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valery Colon in the 30th minute of the match. In the 32ndth minute of the game Bran Torrez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cerecita's Edmundo Lubiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bran Torrez in the 35th minute of play forced Cerecita's goalkeeper Edmundo Lubiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valery Colon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandez Laguardia having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Gualaquiza SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emiliano Loinaz to maneuver through the defense. Cerecita's Antonio Leonor got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The Cerecita fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when Cerecita's Valery Colon looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gualaquiza SC's Texeira Salgado suffered a sore thigh after 79 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Yambay Fuentetaja during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Gualaquiza SC booed when Cerecita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yambay Fuentetaja didn't get a good kick on the ball.
