Zamora Artieta hit a great ball. Mendez Valdespino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marquez Azailla in the 24th minute of the match. Zarbonin Cimbron kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Udalaitz Sagaseta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mendez Valdespino having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Culasti's Tomas Larrañaga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mendez Valdespino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Urki Benegas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reynaldo Arzube read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Moreta Yerro hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After the first half Culasti were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodríguez Chaves to strike the kick off in the second half. Mendez Valdespino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Udalaitz Sagaseta in the 54th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Rodríguez Chaves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Armenia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 61 minutes, Virgilio Albuerne mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Armenia and the Culasti players grew even worse after the yellow card.
