The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Villafuerte Cemborain stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of De-Jesús Euque's shot from short distance in the 2nd minute. Viviano Moya hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After 7 played minutes, Verdecruz FC's Villota Vierna shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Villafuerte Cemborain came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Verdecruz FC reached it. Noriega Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Villafuerte Cemborain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 11th minute De-Jesús Euque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Villafuerte Cemborain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Emanuel Gao left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guanazan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a little luck, Guanazan's Villafuerte Cemborain got control of the ball when Noriega Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raúl Turres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Gao in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to Verdecruz FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Cornelio Irulegui hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Isaias Palmades hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Noriega Lago dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Villafuerte Cemborain, 1-1. Villafuerte Cemborain made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Noriega Lago sent off a good shot on target. Raúl Turres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Gao, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Emanuel Gao received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Raúl Turres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Xesus Guiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. De-Jesús Euque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Villafuerte Cemborain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute De-Jesús Euque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Villafuerte Cemborain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 77 played minutes Guanazan got a freekick which was hit by Isaias Palmades. If Noriega Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When De-Jesús Euque came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Verdecruz FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that De-Jesús Euque couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Verdecruz FC's goalkeeper Raúl Turres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Gao got free with Raúl Turres in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
