After a defensive mix-up in Matus FC's zone, Xano Quejo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Campos Tresgallo came out of the goal and Xano Quejo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Inocencio Gotor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Jairo Perero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, Fernando Serna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pun FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matus FC the free kick. In the 27th match minute, Pun FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Serna to maneuver through the defense. Pun FC's Jairo Perero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inocencio Gotor in the 32nd minute of play. Jairo Perero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cumbicus Borregon in the 39th minute. Jairo Perero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inocencio Gotor in the 42nd minute of the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xano Quejo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Guamán Rivadeneira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Campos Tresgallo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xano Quejo in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Campos Tresgallo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 55th minute, Romulo Maquilanda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cumbicus Borregon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Matus FC booed when Pun FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico Puerto didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Emilio Golpe fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pun FC's protests and gave Emilio Golpe a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Pun FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Matus FC:s goal. In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Matus FC. Jairo Andrino stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jairo Perero. 1-0. If Inocencio Gotor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th match minute, Pun FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chico Puerto to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Matus FC's zone, Xano Quejo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Campos Tresgallo came out of the goal and Xano Quejo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Xano Quejo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Matus FC's goal looked a bit too open when Xano Quejo came free, but Campos Tresgallo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Inocencio Gotor left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Matus FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Jairo Perero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cumbicus Borregon, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. After having played for 99 minutes, Guamán Rivadeneira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pun FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guamán Rivadeneira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matus FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
