The referee ignored Pisagua's protests and gave Valery Parral a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of Pisagua:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CD Pozito:s goal. Ayoví Lizarazu had in the 33rdth minute some difficulties stopping Jairo Taracena's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Jairo Taracena cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ayoví Lizarazu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cesar Gallaiztegui hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. 1-1 became the score in the 38th minute when Valery Parral elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgar Domaquia got free with Xulio Chirghentino in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute Espiga Pintor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ayoví Lizarazu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xulio Chirghentino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valery Parral, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Espiga Pintor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Samuel Fraile recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Pisagua's zone, Samuel Fraile stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ayoví Lizarazu came out of the goal and Samuel Fraile tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Espiga Pintor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ayoví Lizarazu made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Samuel Fraile sent off a good shot on target. If Espiga Pintor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. CD Pozito's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
