Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Cecel's Vitin Ventosa started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Surama's zone, Vitin Ventosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chiriboga Lebrija came out of the goal and Vitin Ventosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Surama's Chiriboga Lebrija played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitin Ventosa in the 6th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Chucho Carbajal could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Chiriboga Lebrija however easily saved by the left post. Chucho Carbajal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiriboga Lebrija having to interfere. Chiriboga Lebrija took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitin Ventosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Cecel booed when Surama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orfilio Bocos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chiriboga Lebrija showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitin Ventosa in the 14th minute of the match. In the 17th minute, Vitin Ventosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Surama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Vitin Ventosa scored to the left of an out of position Chiriboga Lebrija, making the score, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Morales Taran put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Luis Abendaño. 29 minutes into the game, Vitin Ventosa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Chiriboga Lebrija. Vitin Ventosa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chucho Carbajal got free with Chiriboga Lebrija in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Surama's Morales Taran got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 37 minutes, Juan Tordomar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cecel and the Surama players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Surama booed when Cecel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Tordomar didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 47th minute of the match Juan Tordomar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Juan Tordomar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Morales Taran to strike the kick off in the second half. If Morales Taran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Abendaño made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Morales Taran in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Nixon Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Morales Taran received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luis Abendaño came out and tried to block the shot, but Morales Taran slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 61st minute. When Pablo Cobian came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Surama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pablo Cobian couldn't finish the play. Morales Taran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Luis Abendaño tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Cecel's goalkeeper Luis Abendaño had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pablo Cobian. Chiriboga Lebrija showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chucho Carbajal, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Pablo Cobian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Luis Abendaño tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rdth minute of the game Morales Taran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cecel's Luis Abendaño was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nixon Velasco hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. When Ascencio Seber fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Surama's protests and gave Ascencio Seber a yellow card for diving instead. Ascencio Seber hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Chucho Carbajal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nixon Velasco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute, Chucho Carbajal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
