The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Zhambran's goalkeeper Xusto Noreña had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Peter Cancel. Peter Cancel might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Xusto Noreña. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peter Cancel ran back to his position shaking his head. Romo Borregon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th minute Humberto Rivacoba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Umea Arenzano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Cushcapa defense, Bustos Durango kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Umea Arenzano. The Cushcapa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Umea Arenzano should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Zhambran getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jacinto Agustino hit a great ball. Victorio Torrens was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Bustos Durango received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Umea Arenzano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peter Cancel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Xusto Noreña stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Peter Cancel's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Xusto Noreña took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Cancel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zhambran's Bustos Durango got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 60 minutes into the game, Humberto Rivacoba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zhambran's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cushcapa the free kick. Humberto Rivacoba kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st minute of the match Victorio Torrens sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xusto Noreña skillfully saved the ball. Romo Borregon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xusto Noreña having to interfere. Peter Cancel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Xusto Noreña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Cancel in the 73rd minute of play forced Zhambran's goalkeeper Xusto Noreña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Cushcapa's Umea Arenzano got control of the ball when Bustos Durango tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romo Borregon in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Xusto Noreña prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mellington Vallino charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mellington Vallino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Zhambran's Mellington Vallino got a free kick in the 81st minute. Xusto Noreña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franklin Albar in the 84th minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
