Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Humberto Cuadrado took the kick off in the first half of the match. The audience was convinced that Ubaldo Chavarria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roris Beytia was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Ambato's Hugo Regules got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Xabel Carana recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Ambato's Mariano Repuente got a free kick in the 12th minute. Flavio Carcedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xever Marigorta in the 17th minute of the match. Roris Beytia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubaldo Chavarria, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ubaldo Chavarria in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roris Beytia saved Ambato from getting behind. When Guantugloma's Ubaldo Chavarria in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ambato's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Guantugloma's zone, Xever Marigorta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavio Carcedo came out of the goal and Xever Marigorta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dani Valladares during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 35 minutes into the match, Ambato's goal looked a bit too open when Ubaldo Chavarria came free, but Roris Beytia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Xever Marigorta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Humberto Cuadrado scored 0-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flavio Carcedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xabel Carana during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Xabel Carana hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ubaldo Chavarria made a kick off. In the 61st minute Humberto Cuadrado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Carcedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Rogerio Canillas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Xever Marigorta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ambato's supporters rose to their feet, but Xever Marigorta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flavio Carcedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Humberto Cuadrado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavio Carcedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Cuadrado in the 76th minute of the match. Roris Beytia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xabel Carana in the 79th minute of play. In the 85th match minute, Guantugloma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilio Escabi to maneuver through the defense. If Ubaldo Chavarria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Guantugloma's zone, Humberto Cuadrado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavio Carcedo came out of the goal and Humberto Cuadrado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the game, Noriega Orodea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ambato's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guantugloma the free kick. The supporters of Guantugloma booed when Ambato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noriega Orodea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96thth minute of the game Xabel Carana who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ambato's Roris Beytia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Guantugloma fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ambato were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
