The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. CD Yunga's Zavior Ibarrola came free and shot a quick shot against goal 6 minutes in the game, fortunately Brito Castellanos had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 15 minutes into the match, CD Yunga's goal looked a bit too open when Santo Ocaña came free, but Reynaldo Zumiza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CD Yunga's Reynaldo Zumiza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santo Ocaña in the 17th minute of play. Octavio Riba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Octavio Riba fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Brito Castellanos, passed just outside the right post. Brito Castellanos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavio Riba in the 30th minute of play. 31 minutes into the game, Cumbicus Bedia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Verno's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CD Yunga the free kick. A very good chance. When Santo Ocaña came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Verno fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santo Ocaña couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Verno booed when CD Yunga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcos Patiño didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 played minutes Verno got a freekick which was hit by Nicolás Garmendia. In the 71st minute, Telmo Ballejos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Verno's Juan-Carlos Carretero got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Santo Ocaña who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Reynaldo Zumiza when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Zavior Ibarrola came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the CD Yunga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zavior Ibarrola couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute Octavio Riba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brito Castellanos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Verno walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
