Mendoza Escobedo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind UD Genova's goalkeeper Raúl Balboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nando Alegria made a kick off. Faustino Miro's late challenge caught a Ahuano SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 74 minutes of play, UD Genova's Teodoro Fuente made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
