The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Monge Polo came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Infancia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Monge Polo couldn't finish the play. Borja Ceraso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Monge Polo in the 10th minute of the match. Edwin Igareda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Borja Ceraso having to interfere. Borja Ceraso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edwin Igareda, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After having played for 20 minutes, Eduardo Calderon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cayo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Calderon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Edwin Igareda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Borja Ceraso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monge Polo in the 44th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eduardo Calderon to make the kick off. Eduardo Calderon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodolfo Tanasio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Xabel Bas kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 54th minute, Eduardo Calderon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edwin Igareda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Borja Ceraso having to interfere. Eduardo Calderon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
