Rodrigo Calzado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xilo Saavedra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Gulag's Marcelo Tamayo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rodrigo Calzado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 37 played minutes UD Malimpia got a freekick which was hit by Valerio Hostos. 44 minutes into the match, Garcia Cecilia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Octavio Torneira. Gulag's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Garcia Cecilia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The wind increased when Fiallos Orruma made the kick off in the second half. Marcelo Tamayo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Octavio Torneira made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Garcia Cecilia sent off a good shot on target. 86 minutes into the match, Gulag's goal looked a bit too open when Fiallos Orruma came free, but Octavio Torneira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute, Garcia Cecilia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 91 played minutes Fiallos Orruma could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-4 into the left cross. If Xilo Saavedra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched UD Malimpia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
