Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Peter Chinchetru started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Diego Urrutia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without James Brufau having to interfere. When Lisandro Reboredo came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Higueroncito fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lisandro Reboredo couldn't finish the play. 18 minutes into the game, one of CD Ayabamba:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. A collision led to CD Ayabamba getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Ascencio Mostache hit a great ball. Marin Abeyta charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marin Abeyta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of CD Ayabamba booed when Higueroncito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Abeyta didn't get a good kick on the ball. CD Ayabamba's Patricio Azcunaga couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Higueroncito. Poroso Proaño succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 32nd playminute. In the 34th minute, Ascencio Mostache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diego Urrutia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. James Brufau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diego Urrutia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lisandro Reboredo to make the kick off. Peter Chinchetru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mauro Alvarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Chinchetru, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. If Lisandro Reboredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lisandro Reboredo in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg James Brufau saved CD Ayabamba from getting behind. The supporters of Higueroncito booed when CD Ayabamba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Ronquillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 61 minutes, Nicolas Verda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Higueroncito and the CD Ayabamba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Higueroncito's Nicolas Verda got a free kick in the 62nd minute. If Diego Urrutia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lisandro Reboredo in the 75th minute of play forced CD Ayabamba's goalkeeper James Brufau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Diego Urrutia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Higueroncito's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Urrutia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. James Brufau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mendoza Guedella kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Poroso Proaño sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mauro Alvarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Chinchetru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg James Brufau managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Higueroncito's Diego Urrutia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Lisandro Reboredo took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for James Brufau to make any attempt to save it. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Higueroncito players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
