Mel Afonso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 20 minutes into the match Mel Afonso climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-0 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Lauaxeta Montez. Galeno Medina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fix Mendiguren having to interfere. After 26 minutes, Dacio Anievas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guasoque and the Santacruz FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Guasoque's Dacio Anievas got a free kick in the 26th minute. If Mel Afonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Teixido in the 33rd minute of play forced Guasoque's goalkeeper Lauaxeta Montez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lauaxeta Montez made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Mel Afonso sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Galeno Medina in the 42nd minute of play forced Santacruz FC's goalkeeper Fix Mendiguren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mel Afonso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lauaxeta Montez having to make a save. Lauaxeta Montez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnaldo Teixido's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. In the 46th minute, Dacio Anievas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Galeno Medina to strike the kick off in the second half. If Mel Afonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tello Horcasitas during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Guasoque booed when Santacruz FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tello Horcasitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Galeno Medina came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Guasoque fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Galeno Medina couldn't finish the play. Mel Afonso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauaxeta Montez having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Mel Afonso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 74th match minute, Guasoque was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quexal Pelayo to maneuver through the defense. Arnaldo Teixido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauaxeta Montez having to interfere. After 81 played minutes Santacruz FC got a freekick which was hit by Prospero Barja. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Arnaldo Teixido managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santacruz FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Teixido was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauaxeta Montez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Teixido in the 85th minute of play forced Guasoque's goalkeeper Lauaxeta Montez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genaro Huidobro kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. In the 87th minute Arnaldo Teixido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lauaxeta Montez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sabin Ayarza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Santacruz FC's Fix Mendiguren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Galeno Medina in the 95th minute of play.
