Rutenio Bacardi charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rutenio Bacardi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Union Magdalena fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! Union Magdalena:s Carolo Fortea showed great skill when he stopped Eusko Armoña:s penalty. In the 23rd minute, Maximo Vilarrubia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paio Sastrias struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Carolo Fortea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Nacional. Carolo Fortea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauricio Mijangos in the 25th minute of the match. Union Magdalena's Carolo Fortea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauricio Mijangos in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Izotz Atauri fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Zayveon Siles struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Cuarto Darroja didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Union Magdalena. Paio Sastrias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Francisco Botana's late challenge caught a Atletico Nacional's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francisco Botana helped the player get up and apologised. Francisco Botana kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Union Magdalena's zone, Mauricio Mijangos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carolo Fortea came out of the goal and Mauricio Mijangos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 54th minute, Mauricio Mijangos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atletico Nacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 58 minutes into the match, Atletico Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Izotz Atauri came free, but Cuarto Darroja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mauricio Mijangos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carolo Fortea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. In the 96th minute Mannuel Avellano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cuarto Darroja saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Atletico Nacional eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
