An unexpectedly hard shot by Xandro Larrinzar in the 30th minute of play forced Wolfsburg FC's goalkeeper Xavon Greña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Buinton Grajal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lisandro Eriz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xavon Greña made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Lourenco Bautista sent off a good shot on target. Normando Olavarria kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
