Ranolfo Gondin came out and tried to block the shot, but Eguerdi Astera slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 18th minute. In the 22nd minute of the match Iztal Aedo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zacarias Cueto skillfully saved the ball. When Huly Noriega fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bochica's protests and gave Huly Noriega a yellow card for diving instead. Eguerdi Astera hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Eguerdi Astera had several of the Bochica's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 32 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Ranolfo Gondin as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 34 played minutes Bochica got a freekick which was hit by Ovando Olmedo. When Eguerdi Astera came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Red Warriors FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eguerdi Astera couldn't finish the play. Zacarias Cueto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guib Juaristi, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eguerdi Astera stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
