Roegelio Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for los leones. Roegelio Sanz came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by los leones's Mede Lopidana. But to his dismay, Mede Lopidana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Palos Pison notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of los leones's Edson Landaluce. Edson Landaluce was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 20th play minutes Beila Cigüenza shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Roegelio Sanz and just under the crossbar into goal. The supporters of los leones booed when Maranguay FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogelio Esqueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sasoin Monterinos hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximo Naranjo in the 28th minute of play forced los leones's goalkeeper Edson Landaluce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Palos Pison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Maranguay FC's zone, Beila Cigüenza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roegelio Sanz came out of the goal and Beila Cigüenza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Beila Cigüenza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roegelio Sanz was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Mede Lopidana managed to get in a good position for a shot. los leones's supporters rose to their feet, but Mede Lopidana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roegelio Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Beila Cigüenza sped through Maranguay FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Roegelio Sanz. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Maximo Naranjo made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Maximo Naranjo in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edson Landaluce saved los leones from getting behind. Sasoin Monterinos charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sasoin Monterinos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Maranguay FC booed when los leones was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sasoin Monterinos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roegelio Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ponce Velastegui in the 61st minute of play. Roegelio Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xaime Bolas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Beila Cigüenza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roegelio Sanz was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mede Lopidana in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roegelio Sanz saved Maranguay FC from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mede Lopidana in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roegelio Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 81st minute of the match Rogelio Esqueira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edson Landaluce showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Manel Yngles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Roegelio Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 86th minute, Rogelio Esqueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edson Landaluce was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. There was no doubt that los leones were the better team. los leones's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
