The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cayo Cubian struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Fernando Guisasola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bejuquero FC. Berbiz Simancas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zacarias Gorostiza went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Fernando Guisasola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frutos Narganes, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After some careless play in the Mecana defense, Frutos Narganes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Guisasola. The Mecana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Guisasola should have stopped the shot. With an all-out effort, Bejuquero FC's Fernando Guisasola threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Frutos Narganes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Cayo Cubian came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Bejuquero FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cayo Cubian couldn't finish the play. 26 minutes into the game, Domingos Claveria was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mecana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bejuquero FC the free kick. Domingos Claveria kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Bejuquero FC were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Mecana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Beremundo Oberto took the corner. Cayo Cubian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Bejuquero FC booed when Mecana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Gormaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th match minute, Mecana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cosme Barrios to maneuver through the defense. 35 minutes into the match, Beremundo Oberto sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Fernando Guisasola threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Beremundo Oberto this time. Zacarias Gorostiza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Berbiz Simancas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th match minute, Bejuquero FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beremundo Oberto to maneuver through the defense. Berbiz Simancas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orzaize Lagunas in the 49th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frutos Narganes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mecana's Severiano Balbanea pulled a muscle in his leg after 53 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 53 minutes into the game, Andres Garces was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bejuquero FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mecana the free kick. Andres Garces hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Orzaize Lagunas might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Berbiz Simancas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Orzaize Lagunas ran back to his position shaking his head. If Orzaize Lagunas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the game, Beremundo Oberto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
