Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Peli Gimenez made the kick off which started today's match. 3 minutes into the match, Helechal's Gorri Aguiluz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabio Santaren narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Granada booed when Helechal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geraldo Cosmen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Helechal's goal looked a bit too open when Isauro Montoya came free, but Fabio Lantadilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Isauro Montoya came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Granada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isauro Montoya couldn't finish the play. Fabio Santaren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicasio Merodo in the 20th minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Helechal's Enrico Rua broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Nicasio Merodo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isauro Montoya received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Fabio Lantadilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Isauro Montoya got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Granada's goalkeeper Fabio Santaren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gorri Aguiluz. Gorri Aguiluz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gorri Aguiluz might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fabio Santaren. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gorri Aguiluz ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 47th minute of the match, Gorri Aguiluz got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fabio Santaren was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
51 minutes into the match, Gorri Aguiluz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabio Santaren. Granada's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gorri Aguiluz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After 58 minutes, Xzaiver Martinez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Granada and the Helechal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Xzaiver Martinez kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. With a little luck, Helechal's Fabio Lantadilla got control of the ball when Peli Gimenez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fabio Santaren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gorri Aguiluz in the 68th minute of play. Peli Gimenez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of Granada:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Helechal:s goal. Enrico Rua shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gorri Aguiluz in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabio Santaren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Isauro Montoya struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Fabio Lantadilla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Granada. Sal Hierro kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. If Peli Gimenez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Helechal's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
